Meet some more racers taking part in Monterey”s Festival of Speed this weekend at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca near Monterey Bay in California.

Starting tonight and tomorrow, drivers from across the country will be arriving in Monterey to begin unloading cars and preparing themselves mentally for a weekend of racing.  Yesterday, I introduced Brett Smrz and Laura Olson.  Today, I will be introducing two more Mazda drivers here.

Bob Neal sometimes works in conjunction with Laura Olson .  For this weekend, Laura is leasing her car to Bob and it bears the logo of a cause they both support, the Adopt-A-Shelter Program, an organization encouraging the adoption of shelter pets.  At each race he and Laura attend, the local SPCA is there with pets available for adoption..

Meet some of the drivers that will be racing this weekend at the Monterey Festival of Speed, hosted at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Yesterday, I mentioned that Patrick Dempsey and Dempsey Racing were going to take part in the race this weekend in Monterey, CA.  What I didn’t tell you was there are many, many more drivers and racing teams that will be in attendance, all with their own stories and unique set of talents.

Brett Smrz

Brett Smrz is an old pro at driving now, having started five years ago at the tender age of 13, with Kart Racing.  Now a driver under the Mazda umbrella, he finds himself in the unique position of being a contender in a field of champions.

This amazing young man almost didn’t have a racing career following an off track car accident in 2007, when he injured his left leg seriously enough to warrant amputation below the knee.
